I know some of you are black leggings girls, others love a great dress. I’m such a jeans girl. What do you consider yourself? I just love an awesome pair of denim as you’ve likely noticed here and thanks to working from home (#WAHM — work from home mom), I can often get away with it nearly every day of the week.
First, here are my current favorite t-shirt brands:
Something Navy: the blogger-turned-designer has a fantastic $25 tee as part of her Nordstrom collection that I now have in grey and a tie dye. It’s super soft, stretchy, washes well (doesn’t shrink) and is fitted without being tight. It’s what I’m wearing in size XS in this post.
J. Crew Factory: currently the brand’s studio cotton crew neck is my other favorite. It’s more fitted than the Something Navy version and you can easily stock up for around $10-$12 during a sale. They come in a ton of colors, and while I find the brand usually runs big, I wear these in a size small.
Madewell: the class v-neck that everyone loves! It comes in a bazillion colors, wears well, has a flattering silhouette and is under $20. For a very similar even more budget-friendly version at just $8, it’s definitely worth trying Target’s Universal Thread option, which comes in more than a dozen colors and has more than 1,100 nearly five star reviews.
And these are my three favorite denim brands you usually hear me loving on:
Good American: I have a pair of Good American and like so many other women, am a huge fan. Yes, it’s the brand by Khloe Kardashian, and let me be the first to say: girl knows how to make all women’s curves look GOOD.
Citizens of Humanity, “the rocket sculpt“: for true designer denim, this style by Citizens is my absolute favorite and it’s the pair I’m wearing here. I am a huge fan of the higher rise that sucks you in, and the style is just incredibly flattering all around. I found it thanks to another blogger and it consistently has great reviews.
Abercrombie: as you know, I rediscovered the brand in 2018 and I’m SO glad I did. I now have a few tops from there that are so cute and I’m incredibly into the denim. Fits well, great washes, variety of rises and inseams, etc. You can’t go wrong, particularly when they have a sale you can get a pair under $50. Highly suggest!
I know people also love Old Navy’s rock star but I prefer one of the above, particularly when Abercombie has its half-off denim sales.
Now, back to the outfit: a white tee and jeans! It’s the best and can seriously go from errands to a work meeting with a few tiny tweaks as you’ve seen I made here. Add a blazer and heels (or fancy flats) and bam, you’re work ready. I got this blazer in my last Trunk Club and if you’re looking for one, it’s awesome. I love that it’s more cotton based so it’s super stretchy and comfortable — I don’t feel constricted at all.
Have to show you a good view of these sneakers (you know, the ones that only look like the $500ish Golden Goose sneakers…. shhhhh). 😉
Now, make a few super easy tweaks to the white tee and jeans — layer on that perfect blazer — this one is available in four colors and is so great and stretchy — plus swap out your footwear, and you’re ready for meetings…

March 5, 2019 at 3:40 PMHow does the blazer fit? Is it true to size? I’d love to know if you’re wearing petite or regular. I’m a petite girl myself – pretty close in size to you. Thanks!

March 5, 2019 at 4:19 PMHey Laura! I’m wearing a regular size XS; I find petite jackets sometimes are too short in my arms so if that’s an issue for you I’d do regular sizing.

March 2, 2019 at 7:16 AMI am also a jeans girl, and a big fan of the Universal Thread tees! I used to get Caslon tees from Nordstrom, but the scoop necks tend to get stretched out with wear and the tees are a bit longer than I like, so have switched to Target for now!

March 5, 2019 at 4:22 PMThat’s great feedback on the Caslon tees… totally agree that the Universal Thread tees are such a great buy.

March 1, 2019 at 6:49 AMLove both of these looks – and we are a big fan of the Universal Thread tees! Lauren & I bought multiple colors and share them back and forth. I just picked up some more yesterday when I was at Target because they’re 2 for $14 right now!
