The poncho. This Florida girl wasn’t sure about it, and it totally feels like one of those “man repeller” looks, but in reality they’re just insanely cozy and utterly cool. To test out the look, Talbots sent me this beautiful cable-knit version that I absolutely adore. Open sides create a more flattering fit, and it’s so comfy. Definitely perfect for the movies and cooler nights (hopefully on the horizon!). I should also mention I’ve been so impressed by Talbots’ collection; this, this, this and this are beautiful, contemporary, well made, timeless… and fun.
A few tips when wearing ponchos: this one is definitely a little oversized; for a more dressed up look I could size down (wearing a size small) and love the idea of swapping out the denim and flats for black pants or faux leather leggings and heels or booties. Instantly more pulled together, and the extra height will balance out any bulkiness. I’m also 5’3, for reference. Keep anything underneath or on your bottom half fitted so you don’t look bulky all over, and you can also do up your accessories to increase the personality.
So, in true “average girl” style, my camera battery died and it was the craziest day ever so you’re getting iPhone pics. Kills me but hey, you’re not here because I’m a fab style blogger; this is real life ladies, and dead camera batteries, along with chipped nail polish and wearing Doc McStuffins band-aids on my right ring finger, is how this girl rolls. Great, true-to color selfie of the outfit, including my fabulous new $10 sunglasses, which look shockingly like this ($385!) pair from Prada. They take about 2-3 weeks to arrive, and are worth every penny.
