After getting such an overwhelming positive response from you on social media, I’m thrilled to present the first Mother Daughter style post here at The Average Girl’s Guide. Yay!
Sarah often says she wants to be a fashion designer or “fashionista” when she grows up, and you can clearly see her love of style. I’m thrilled to let her select her own outfits that you’ll see featured here about one per month (she’s only been begging asking for ages!). If you follow me on snapchat (alyson.seligman) you might have seen a few times where I’ve walked into her room, only to find a “flat lay” of her outfit for the next day perfectly laid out on the floor, accessories, footwear and all.
Over the summer, Sarah wanted a leather moto jacket but I refused to spend $70+ for a six-year-old in Florida. I stumbled across this one from Forever 21 — yup, they have a girls section! — and showed it to Sarah, she immediately freaked, and neeeeded it, along with the dress they styled it with… naturally. If you have a girl, check out the F21 girls section… so many affordable, stylish gems. In this instance, the fun modern 90’s vibe — even if she doesn’t realize it — is on trend with beautiful florals and pale pink that perfectly complements my pretty new Talbots “mira” flats.
The pointed toe flat is definitely an essential, as it elongates the leg. These flats come in a multitude of colors, but I couldn’t resist this neutral hue that’s also so fun with a pop of leopard. I mean, and while these come in a multide of colors, this hue is having a moment and works as the perfect accessory. I mean, how fun is this leopard clutch? There’s a leopard clutch by another brand that I swear every blogger owns — legit, every fashion blogger, like it’s mandatory or something — but I couldn’t stand the animal hair feel. This one is gorgeous, spacious and currently on sale.
Lastly, Frame denim…. I got these jeans during the Nordstrom sale this summer and can’t say enough good things about the brand and fit. Shopbop currently has a huge sale where nearly everything is at least 25% off, including Frame. Highly recommend you check it out. I’ll be sharing more but a few other key finds include this, this and these (my favorite nude flats; seen here).
Blouse: c/o Foxcroft // Denim: Frame (in black here, and similar style here) // Flats: c/o Talbots // Clutch: c/o Talbots // Ring: BaubleBar
Sarah’s dress: Forever 21 (runs short; size up) // Jacket: Forever 21 // Sneakers: Adidas (similar) // Choker: my Gorjana wrap bracelet she made into a necklace // Long pendant: I Love Jewelry (she “borrowed” it from me… but I haven’t gotten it back yet!)
