I’ve been curious about a DIY facial scrub or wash for ages but it always seems labor intensive and well, I’m super lazy. At the same time, I hate spending loads of money on wasteful products and I’m all about a natural, quick solution.
Enter: Coconut Oil DIY facial scrub! Coconut oil is a miracle product that seems to work for just about everything (seriously, everything), and oil cleansers are a new hot product. I know it sounds strange, particularly if you have oily skin, however apparently oil attracts oil so it does a great job of cleaning all the oils and makeup off your face, without leaving you feeling greasy. In fact, you feel super hydrated. At the same time, the grittier sugar helps remove dead skin. Think super clean pores and hydrated skin.
I tested this crazy easy two-ingredient facial scrub last week and it’s so, so good. Once you get used to it you can add 2-3 drops of essential oils. For example, I plan to add lavender for its relaxing qualities and that it regenerates skin cells.
Here’s what to do:
1-2 Tbsp coconut oil
3 Tablespoons brown sugar (regular sugar is OK, too)
In a bowl, mix the two ingredients together. You can do this with a spoon or your fingers… it will just take a minute if your oil is semi-hard. You can melt the oil if you like, just don’t get it too hot. Just be careful not to get the oil on any clothes, otherwise it will stain. Doing this in the shower or over the sink is best.
Using your fingertips, gently massage the mixture all over your face. Be extra gentle around your eyes (avoid getting it in your eyes). While I massaged about two minutes, you can go up to five minutes. Then take a warm wet wash cloth and wipe away all the excess oil and sugar. I swear my skin felt so supple and smooth, and vibrant, too. I even went out that night without foundation… something I never, ever do. This lazy girl is totally game for doing this again.
