Perhaps impractical for my Florida locale, I cannot get enough of over-the-knee boots and am convinced they’re way more wearable than us real girls might imagine. Maybe a few seasons ago, like distressed denim, they were for the leggy 20-somethings, however they’re not deemed appropriate and stylish for women of a variety of shapes, sizes and ages, when styled correctly. They also work seamlessly from day to night, and best of all, are add extra warmth in cooler climates.
I know bloggers are wearing the Stuart Weitzman pairs (5050, Lowland and Highlands are most popular) like they’re going out of style but cannot imagine spending $600+. I recently purchased this look-for-less budget pair and they’re so awesome; you’ll be seeing them here next week, and couldn’t resist sharing a few tips to find the best pair for you. I know it can be overwhelming when there are so many options so consider the following:
- Sleek: Find a pair closer to your leg line (instead of really baggy or bunchy), and aim for a darker color. Black boots, with black leggings or faux leather pants, paired with a chunky knit sweater, a denim button down and a fun pop of color in an accessory is gorgeous (and comfy!).
- Bold: Pair the boots with a dress. I love, love the little bit of leg showing but you can also add opaque black tights and a long cardigan to keep you cozy and covered.
- Neutrals: Instead of a traditional black, opt for a grey or camel pair, and pair it with a range of neutrals for an on-trend look.
- Consider your shape: if you spend time on Pinterest or do a Google search, promise you’ll see even more women than the ones below rockin’ OTK boots — they’re tall, petite, curvy, athletic, older, younger, you name it. For most, the easiest way to keep the slim line is to wear the same color pants or tights (i.e. black leggings with black OTK boots), or find a pair with at least a small heel.

December 3, 2015 at 8:44 AMA couple weeks ago, I came across 2 pairs of Stuart Weitzman boots (both in my size) at Nordstrom rack (black lowlands and taupe highlands). They were $225 each and I immediately bought them both. I had been looking at them online for the past couple of years, but could never justify spending $800 on one pair of boots, likewise I didn’t know if they would work IRL.
While I was thrilled to get them for such a deal, they have sat in my closet unworn because I thought that I might end up looking like Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman! I am thinking that this might all be in my head, since they look great in all of the pictures in your post….(dare I say classy)???
