We’re back with Alyson’s Current Favorites! This month is flying by so I wanted to check in with some of the things I’m seriously loving this month. Anything you’re obsessed with?? Comment below!

MARRIAGE VACATION (here)

If you’re looking for a total guilty pleasure of a summer read, look no further. Sometimes you just need a book that’s just easy and fun and a total page turner. This book isn’t trying to be an award winner. And, best of all, if you watch Younger you know about this book… and it’s real! How fun is this cross-marketing? I started this book this weekend — one of the top summer book picks — and it’s totally everything I was looking for to get back into reading.

Current Favorites:

Trader Joe’s Chocolate covered strawberries

Holy cow these little chocolate covered strawberries are YUMMY!! We already love Gone Bananas so I immediately stalked these frozen little guys out like a crazy lady when I saw someone post them on Instagram. They are totally worthy of the hype and if you can control yourself, just 2-3 is the perfect sweet treat after dinner!

 

Sam Edelman heels (here)

I shared in this post my love of Sam Edelman’s “yaro” heel — they now come in a gazillion colors and prints (evidenced here), though this one might be my all-time favorite. I just wore them to a brunch with this white dress and got a million compliments and I can’t get over the cool palm leaf print with the detailed heels. They’re just so different from anything I have and will equally look cool with a pair of denim. I envision getting lots of use out of these for years to come. PS: they’re on sale!

… psst: if you’re looking for an “obsession worthy flat/slide” — let me direct you to these! I got them in navy and am shocked/impressed by the quality and comfort of the sole, especially for under $25. I wear them constantly, as you might have seen on Instagram. They’re the best and super versatile to dress up or down.

 

Kids toothbrush set (here)

We had been having the hardest freaking time getting the kids to brush their teeth each night. So frustrating. They had been using $8 electric ones from Publix so I ventured to Amazon to find some new ones. Sarah became OBSESSED with this rose gold brush (a girl after my own heart… it’s awesome, but strong!), and I ordered this set for Evan after reading all the awesome reviews. It’s seriously the best! There are a bunch of animals to select from, and he loves having his own cup, and the timer makes it fun, and keeps us all in line, too. It has honestly made tooth brushing so, so much better.

Drunk Elephant Baby Facial (find it at Amazon or Sephora)

There’s been so much hype around this product claiming to give you the results of a pro facial in the convenience of your home. You might be wary of the higher price point (it’s $80) but since I knew I’d get a lot of use out of one bottle I went for it during a recent sale. The product boasts an impressive 25 percent AHA and 2 percent BHA, plus blend of glycolic, tartaric, lactic, citric, and salicylic acids, helping give you a deep exfoliation and reveal brighter, softer looking skin. I have now tried it three times — use it no more than once per week — and this way I’ve had ample time to try before ever recommending anything to you. The result absolutely feels like a pro facial… my skin texture feels so much softer and brighter afterward. I saw a Sephora reviewer just mention benefit on her keratosis pilaris on her arms; I have that as well and definitely plan to try it!

Bonus, it comes with a generous sample of Drunk Elephant’s marula facial oil to put on afterward. So nice for your skin to soak in moisture.

 

Schitt’s Creek

This show is HYSTERICAL! Founded and written by Eugene Levy and his son, Daniel (who also act as father and son), the plot centers around this family that loses everything when their business manager fails to pay their taxes. They are forced to rebuild their lives with their sole remaining asset: a small town named Schitt’s Creek which they had bought their son as a joke birthday gift years before. I must confess that David, played by Daniel, is my favorite though each of their personalities as they adjust to the unique personalities of the “townies” is seriously amusing.

Plus, anyone else ever on the hunt for a great 22-ish minute ep show? Younger is the best, and this now ranks up there if you’re looking for something light-hearted and fun before bed. There are now four seasons, with about 10-13 episodes each so a fun little binge watch!

 

NORDSTROM ANNIVERSARY SALE… AND A GIVEAWAY!

Holy cow, the N Sale is already less than a month away. Like last year, I’ll be swinging by Nordstrom as early and often as possible to help you navigate the sale.

As a heads up, I have a Nordstrom credit card (though they also have a debit card where you can take advantage of perks), and it’s absolutely the best way to get early access to the sale. I am not one for suggesting a credit card ever, ever if you can’t pay it off, but if you can budget accordingly, I have found our Nordstrom card really helpful. Get it in advance so you can shop the sale early.

Sale dates: 

July 12: Early Access Starts. I think it starts around 2am CST. I will have a huge try-on session on the blog ASAP so check back here for sizing and best finds. To get a sense of content I post, here are past posts. Also let me know what you’d love to see.
