Six Simple Ways To Update Your Bathroom

Gold hardware and faucet!

I’ve been dreaming about gutting my master bathroom since the moment we moved in our home — about six years — however it’s always taken a back seat since it’s such an expensive undertaking. However, we recently made a few small yet impactful updates to provide a fresh, renewed feel, which I’m excited to share with you today in partnership with delta faucet for its INSPIRED LIVING BLOG.

Clear away the clutter

First and most importantly, do any of those dreamy Pinterest bathrooms have stuff all over the counters? Definitely not. Take the extra minute or two each morning to put away your blow dryer, tooth brush and other essentials. You can also corral items with a beautiful tray (Homegoods and Target are great resources!) or showcase your jewelry in pretty bowls or display cases.

Invest in one major update

For us, this meant our faucets so it was kismet when Delta reached out about collaborating (I already had these faucets on my Amazon wish list!). By updating the original (i.e. dated) builder grade faucet you can see above to the prettiest Delta Vero Two-Handle Lavarotory Faucet in champagne bronze, it has given our bathroom a completely new, modern look. It’s incredible the impact a faucet can make!

I should note that I planned to also update our tub faucet (and purchased it on my own), however our plumber advised us against it since our tub is built into the wall… we literally would have had to do major construction.  If you’re unsure, check with a plumber first.

Paint your cabinets

It’s incredible what a fresh coat of paint can do! Our cabinets were this medium-stained wood that literally bothered me every time I saw it. I had always loved, loved the idea of blue cabinets so we went for it! It has an amazing impact, right?

Swap your knobs

Talk about an inexpensive yet important update! Simply swap out your bathroom knobs with a fresh pair that makes your heart happy. We purchased these last year from Anthropologie and they pair perfectly with our new Delta faucet.

Add accessories

A few new accessories like lanterns, candles and other trinkets can really add a fresh feel to a dated bathroom. My previous accessories were dusty, too small for the space and didn’t really complement each other. I purchased this chandelier a few years ago and just found these gorgeous lanterns at Homegoods. I also found these marble soap dispensers by Target’s new brand, Project 62… they add such a luxe look at a bargain price.

Treat yourself to new towels & mats

When was the last time you treated yourself to new towels? If you can’t remember, it’s time to refresh. There’s nothing better than getting out of a shower or bath into a cozy, indulgent towel, and the plushest mats you can find… do it up, hotel style.

Add fresh flowers and greenery

Whenever I treat myself to fresh flowers, they typically wind up in the kitchen and living room area even though I’m honestly not sure why. It’s not like anyone else in my house appreciates them! 😉 Try adding some fresh flowers or greens (these leaves from Whole Foods are going strong more than four weeks later); I seriously smile each time I see them in my bathroom and it adds such a luxurious feel whenever I get ready, or as I’m winding down.

I am seriously late to this conversation, but I stumbled onto this post after reading a more current post. We are right in the midst of a diy bathroom makeover and this is giving me some great inspiration! I had my main choices made, but loved all your ideas. Our cabinets are white but are showing 25 years of use. Did you paint them yourself or have someone do it for you? Love the lanterns and the greenery in the glass vase! Will be heading to my Whole Foods to see what’s available. Thanks for a great post!

Thanks, and of course. It’s actually super old from Urban Outfitters; I don’t see anything similar there however Pottery Barn Teen has a few REALLY cute ones. I love this bow option: http://bit.ly/2AdkO10 and this one is a fancier version of mine (the gold is gorgeous): http://bit.ly/2ACnJ3Z.
