My Home for the Holidays

Brought to you by Target.

Home for the Holidays

Decorating for the holidays is fun, but in the past I’ve found it a little challenging. I want my space to look fun and festive, however, beyond the difficulties posed living in Florida (Pinterest has made me feel like I need an old house with a gorgeous mantle and fireplace!), it’s also hard to justify spending a lot of money on decor we’ll only use for about a month each year.

Target challenged me to find pieces I could add now to my home that would transition from the holidays to, well, after the holidays. Game on, Target.

As someone who loves metallics, I instantly gravitated toward silver and gold pieces, which can make your room feel special all-year-long, not just during your holiday parties. For example, these beautiful pillows by Nate Berkus add a touch of luxury to my classic espresso and cream chairs. Another luxe touch? Marble. I love it so much. It’s also so on trend right now and this decorative star is just perfect; Target also had a decorative marble piece shaped like a tree but I passed on that one; the star more easily transitions to complement year-round decor, so you can keep it on your tray, mantel or book shelf (where mine will go) after the holidays.

As you guys know, I am loving trays for functionality and style in home decor.  Target has so many great options.   For a party, you can lay out your glassware, wine and these amazing coasters.…marble AND gold?  Yes, please. Target sells these packaged with a cute tag for gifting (and you can’t beat the $12.99 price tag).  Other touches like the repurposed “joy” ornament on a wine bottle, a string of lights and even a snow globe are festive yet functional touches.

By the way, I wasn’t sure about these bear pillows when I first saw them, which have an over-sized plaid on the reverse side, but I thought they had potential; I am a big fan of purchasing to test in my space (same goes with trying clothes on at home). As soon as I saw them on my cream couch, I fell in love. Aren’t they so so cute? Layer in the softest faux fur throw perfect for cuddling, along with your own pillows and throws, to create a beautiful, naturally lived in, yet holiday-festive space.

And, there you have it! Have fun with it, and don’t be afraid to add a few extra festive touches — it’s fun to display pieces that are specifically like the season (like these new holiday lights pajamas!).
