Closet Staple: Cargo Pants

There are undoubtedly a handful of closet staples that work for a majority of women across all ages, professions, body types and locations. Debuting today a three part series to share with you stylish transitional pieces for your closet, including more than a dozen ways real women wear it. The goal is that if you’re going to invest in an item, it’s important to consider how many ways you can wear it, instead of simply defaulting to the usual (which I think we’re all a little guilty of).

Remember the plaid scarf, for example from last year? First up this season: army green cargo pants. Each fall, my army green cargo pants become such a fresh change from either summer colored denim, slacks or old stand by, blue jeans. The key is to find a pair that fits you perfectly, with some fun details (I love side ankle zippers) and ideally, a mid-rise so there’s no worry of a tush reveal. I purchased these during the Nordstrom anniversary sale; the fit & style is so good… I’ll have these for years.

Army green in general is having a major moment (as it does many autumns!) so whether it’s an army green jacket, vest, pants or fun handbag, consider this a perfect way to transition to fall, even if it’s 68 or 86 degrees where you are.

Pair your army green cargos with a white tee, a chunky knit, flats, booties or heels, a pop or pink or red, a floral or stripe, camel anything, black, and some gold jewelry… any of the above work.
