Trust me when I say I’m fairly hair (and beauty) inept. Discovering the Beachwaver products in 2016 through a friend who has perfect beachy waves was for sure a turning point… at least for my hair. If you’ve follow here or know me personally, you likely have heard me rave about this curling iron tool that — when you push a button — literally curls your hair for you by automatically rotating. It’s so genius, and truth, fun to use!
What I didn’t know until recently was how Beachwaver came to be, and how its founder, celebrity stylist and mom of two, Sarah Potempa, took years to create it to give real women like you and me the tools in our own home to create what she was creating around the world for clients. She’s so down-to-earth and hard working that you’d never know she was this majorly sought after stylist who’s good friends with Lea Michelle and Reese Witherspoon, was the official stylist for VS fashion show, etc. Such an honor to get to know Sarah, smiling there below.
Exclusive first look!
Now, the company founded by Sarah along with her sisters Emily and Erin, have created an incredible line of hair care products exclusively available in advance here that they’re debuting next month through a “Dream Big Make Waves” campaign that I — seriously, pinch me right now — am part of. They’re highlighting real women creating waves, just as these three sisters have done. They have spent two years getting these products just as they envisioned. They work; they hydrate and have an active ingredient to strengthen your hair, they smell amazing, have gorgeous packaging (love the pink bottles in my shower!) and are free of negative energy, i.e. parabens, phalates and all the bad stuff.
Beachwaver products I’ve tested:
Good Vibes Shampoo: deep cleans while moisturizes and strengthens; like all the products, has the lightest and prettiest scent.
Good Vibes Conditioner: instantly detangles and smooths hair; I primarily just use it on the lower half of my hair and Sarah (my daughter) uses it too.
Shubie Surf Beach Spray: creates awesome texture for waves (love this one; works particularly well if my hair is too clean to hold a curl. I like how doesn’t make my hair crunchy, dry or icky, just helps create a natural wave)
Braid Balm: OMG, have seen this in action many times — it comes out as a foam, instantly smooths hair to create better braids and when you take the braids out, the waves are amazing without frizz. If you braid your hair — or your kiddos — this is a must! I can’t get over how good it is. Now, if only I could braid my hair….
Want exclusive access BEFORE the public, and a 20 percent?? I’m here to deliver! Head to the web site (you have to click on the link as new products are not yet widely accessible) and use code “THEMODERNSAVVY” at checkout for a 20 percent discount on your entire purchase, curling irons included!!
Here are a few photos from the photo shoot earlier this month in Miami; seriously, beyond! They styled my shorter hair with the S .75 barrel (creates a tighter curl), and my longer hair with the S 1.00; use the S 1.25 for longer hair if you want looser waves. By the way, they just updated the tools so they’re dual voltage, meaning you can use them in other countries (with an adapter) so you won’t be like me who once caused a major outage thanks to a flat iron!). All curling iron sizes available here, in both black and white.
Outfit details: Bathing suit top and bottom (Abercrombie – more styles here, all on sale); cover-up (Amazon, it’s amazing… so flowy, flattering, buttons up & is under $22!)
Outfit details, above: linen camisole (Nordstrom, on sale under $20); Levi’s white cut-offs; Alexandra Gioia rattan earrings

Love the Beachwaver products “great barrier” hairspray in image above; it’s a heat protectant, provides the perfect flexible hold that doesn’t feel like you have a spray in your hair, smoothes, and smells incredible.

Thank you to Beachwaver for inviting me to be part of its phenomenal Big Make Waves campaign. I have been getting emails and messages about the products, the Miami photo shoot, etc., and I simply love, love their products, brand and people so much so thought one post would be helpful! All opinions are 100 percent my own. Thank you for supporting brands that support The Modern Savvy; I’m confident you’ll love Beachwaver products as much as I have the past few years (long before the brand knew me!).
