All I keep hearing about is fall, but I’m struggling to even comprehend heavy sweaters and cardigans when it’s still bordering 90 degrees most days in Florida. Anyone else with me? I’m literally convulsing in heat sweats looking at some bloggers on Instagram. Sooooo….. I’m so excited to be kicking off today the first in a three part series about wearable fall trends if you live in a warm weather climate! If you live somewhere cooler — I know we have a lot of New York and Chicago women here (hi!) — these posts are still for you because the trends are the trends, and I’ll be sharing sharing style finds beyond what I’m wearing as well. Let me know if you find this type of content helpful and I’ll keep doing it.
So, let’s get started!
Fall trends for warmer weather
This outfit is one of my favorites for fall, integrating THREE fall trends for warmer weather all in one!
Florals: I know it’s fall but florals, especially with a darker base like navy and black, are such a beautiful contrast to the typical Fall style and work particularly well in warmer weather climates. I stumbled across this gorgeous blouse recently at Anthropologie and it’s so different from anything I own…. plus it’s flattering yet forgiving. 😉
Lighter wash jeans: think it’s partially thanks to Levi’s making such a big comeback the past few years but a lighter wash with a slightly more casual boyfriend/girlfriend fit has been incredibly popular. I like the LOFT pair I’m wearing though I must confess I wish it had a slightly higher rise…. I also cut mine more at the bottom for a more flattering length. I’ve been eyeing this Madewell pair with a slightly narrow leg (I asked my stylist to include it in my next Trunk Club so I can try them without purchasing).
White shoes: obsessed. You likely know I have a thing for white accessories by now, I always have, and they’re so huge for fall. I absolutely love, love how fresh they look, and are even an awesome contrast if you’re wearing a black top and denim (check out my outfit on Instagram, for example, with these shoes). Go for white mules — mine are Target (and they do come in black), I’ve been wearing them nonstop and they’re so comfortable! — otherwise a loafer, bootie, and of course… a white sneaker, are classics.
When it comes to trends, there are always a few important caveats: It’s equally important to stick with what works for you, your lifestyle, your budget and your personal taste. It’s fun to play around with what’s new, but I bet Goodwill and other thrift stores would be an amazing place to find unique florals and lighter wash denim. Make it a fun outing with a girlfriend or your daughter!
