It’s swimsuit season…. well, I live in Florida so it’s always sort of swimsuit season but I’m definitely finding myself reaching for my swimsuits more often each weekend.
My suits are such a mix: I love, love the quality of Athleta and I also have a few Target and other brands. I’ve been seeing Amazon’s growing apparel section and stumbled across this two-piece, super cute swimsuit a few months that only set me back $25. What I loved is that so many of you ordered it too, and loved the look. While I had never thought of Amazon for swim, I immediately started digging and have found SO many cute swimsuits, all under $30.
Tips to best shop Amazon’s swim section:
Read the reviews, but as always, take it with a grain of salt. We never know who’s writing the reviews, their body type or anything else. I love seeing photos and what size people ordered.
Be mindful of sizing. Based on lots and lots of reviews, most of these suits run small. Take two or three minutes to scan the reviews, check out the photos to see what size would be best for you. I always size up in bathing suits (I’m regularly a size 2-4), and got a medium in this and this.
Be honest about your body type. I know some people who live by online ordering and some who refuse. I get how bathing suit shopping online can be a gamble, so I consider the same as when I have ordered on Rent the Runway: you know what’s most flattering for you and what’s risky. If you’re busty, don’t gamble to see if an under $30 will have incredible support… it likely won’t. Prefer to cover the bum? Avoid “cheeky” suits. You get the idea.
Have fun with styles. When suits are $140, or each bikini piece is $89, I get anxious about testing out a new style. This is the perfect opportunity, recognizing this is not the suit you are going to have for the next two decades.
Are you always in a black bathing suit? Test out adding a splash of color (which by the way, I find way more flattering… it focuses the attention ON your suit instead of on your body).. Always in a one-piece? Test one with a cute cut-out! Always in a solid? Go for a fun palm print suit. Have fun with it.
