Embracing The Lilly Pulitzer Within

Lilly Pulitzer  — who decades ago chose to live in Palm Beach year-round while others visited — was the originator (the OG, if you will!) of resort wear, creating a shift dress to suit her lifestyle on the Island. Now decades later, the sunny Lilly Pulitzer brand continues to grow with a penchant for pinks, vibrant brights and living colorfully.

I must confess when we moved here in 2005, I didn’t totally get it. I barely wore pink (I love it now), and the only print I owned was a blue stripe. Looking at these photos gives me a chuckle thinking how far I’ve come and how happy this fun print, amazing details (hello pom pom and tassel neckline!) and flattering silhouette makes me feel. While I must confess that some Lilly prints (i.e. like a sea urchin on a blouse) is just not my thing, I’ve become a big fan over the years. My first Lilly Putlizer pieces were scalloped shorts and a navy tank Adam got for me years ago… and both, after lots of use, still look nearly brand new today.

For a shift like this one, pair it with a denim jacket or shawl for evening or as you head into fall, and while I’m styling it more casually for a girls’ lunch date — you know because I’m such a lady who leisurely lunches, lol — you can easily dress it up with heels or wedges.  Lilly would want you to have fun with it however you style it!
