Dressing for Fall is the seriously best and if you’re anything like me, there are a handful of closet essentials you always gravitate toward. It’s easy to put outfits together that are cute yet cozy (my personal style mantra!) and yet regardless of where you’re living, no one’s freezing…. though I do wish it was about 10 degrees cooler here in Florida.
There are so many good Fall trends (velvet, chokers, bell sleeves!) that we’ll get to in another post but I first wanted to share with you 10 wardrobe essentials that work across a variety of ages, professions and sizes. I know each of us have other essentials based on our current life place but even this Florida girl loves an off-the-shoulder sweater for date night, and is 100 percent serious that leather pants are way more versatile than you think. Top them with an over-sized sweater or blouse and heels, a statement sweatshirt and sneakers, or stripes and flats. Before shopping any trends, these essentials create a strong wardrobe collection so you’re not screaming, “I have nothing to wear!” (been there).
Cozy weekend / weeknight sweatshirts: Old Navy or Project Social T
Fall blouse: Loft (lace, peplum & burgundy!), or bell-sleeve blouse from Banana Republic that’s also available in orange
Perfect striped top: Lace-up option // Tee // bell sleeves
Off the Shoulder Sweater: Sun & Shadow (or this from Goodnight Macaroon)
Denim (points for ‘destroyed/open hem’): Gap, or DL1961 (black pair: these)
Leather pants: BlankNYC (I’ve had for two years), or try these Spanx leggings
Cozy cardigan: Barefoot Dreams, or this lighter-weight option from LOFT
Blanket Scarf: ASOS or Target (also check its “dollar spot” — I saw a few for $7!)
Perfect black flats: Tory Burch, or try Halogen lace-ups (both available in multiple colors)
Booties: Sole Society, or Tom’s (on my wish list)

October 10, 2016 at 6:15 AMgreat staples, I really want a pair of leather pants this year. I feel like I need an OTS sweater not sure I’ll get to wear it much though.

October 11, 2016 at 12:08 PMHave to confess that even as a Florida girl, my Blank faux leather pants got impressive last year, as did a OTS sweater I got at Anthropologie. As long as their not so heavy — because if you need a thick sweater you likely don’t want your shoulders exposed! — it’s fun to wear it casually for lunch, or dressed up at night.
