As a Florida girl, I discovered one of the best parts of California is the weather. It’s hot like Florida but not at all humid, so frizz… gone! Plus, at night, there’s a cool crispness to the air where you can put on a cozy cardigan, sweater or jacket instead of continuing to sweat while walking down the street. #floridalife
While in L.A. I opted for a casual ensemble and brought along this gorgeous J. McLaughlin gold striped sweater that will be equally perfect in the winter, but also served me well as the temperatures cooled. The beautiful metallic threading and bold stripes feel special, and while the brand tends to be a bit higher priced than others I more frequently wear, I’ve learned over time that their materials wear incredibly well. A few well-worn pieces from a year or two ago look brand new.
Another favorite aspect of California? The laid-back lifestyle. I wore a gold tee & these white denim shorts, along with a larger tote and sandals, all day while sightseeing. We then popped into a restaurant for drinks and a bite… before dinner. I know… I really, really love to try new restaurants. 😉 While I could have easily stayed with the tote and sandals, I swapped them for my clutch and new mules, which I found on mega clearance while in LA at Rebecca Minkoff (seriously, about $50). Still ultra casual and super easy to transition from day to evening.
Sweater: J. McLaughlin c/o // gold metallic tee (on sale, not shown): J. Crew // Shorts: Target (similar)// Heels: Rebecca Minkoff (mega sale, here or here) // Clutch: Star Mela (old; similar) // Earrings: Kendra Scott // Necklace: BaubleBar (wear almost daily) // Bracelets: Gorjana (these are so pretty and lightweight)
I know Fall is fast approaching and there are lots of bloggers sharing a gazillion cool weather outfits but ladies, I can’t do it. First, I don’t want it to be November and wishing for my spring clothes. It’s like being pregnant; you’re all excited to get in that maternity gear at 10 weeks but come 25 weeks pregnant, you’re dying for regular jeans. So, I’m sticking to my summer attire here a little while longer, and integrating some cooler colors like olive and navy, and wearing a deeper lip hue. There are also so many bloggers who live in cooler climates so hope you’re cool this Florida girl is sticking to shorts and dresses for a while longer.

August 17, 2016 at 7:56 AMThank you! Still dying up here in ATL, and as much as I love fall and can’t wait for that first crisp morning, it’s too painful to look at wool and boots right now.

August 17, 2016 at 6:55 AMLove the casualness of this outfit, yet somehow with the clutch and mules it’s so chic?? Simple elegance. This is definitely my style (if I was successful at having style, lol) so I love your outfit posts 🙂
