I can’t believe we’re half-way through June — and through 2016, for that matter! — but we are in the midst of summer and sun and all things bright and fun. Woah, see how that rhymed? I didn’t even mean to be that cool. 😉 As you can see below, my monthly obsessions kind of have a laid-back outdoorsy theme perfect for weekend hanging and recharging. Check it out below, and comment with any of your latest obsessions and loves! Have a great week.
Pool drink floats: Ok, I confess, I don’t own these yet but we’re currently building a pool in our backyard and the idea of adorable drink floaties as I relax on the weekend has me giddy just thinking about it. I love all the options — flamingoes, donuts, limes, the options are endless, and for just a few bucks, they’re totally worth the “investment” (and cute photos!).
Beautycounter shampoo: As you know, I’m a big proponent of safer beauty and skincare products. I’ve had a favorite shampoo for a while now until multiple friends turned me on to this. Not only does this beautycounter shampoo leave my scalp feeling insanely clean (without drying my hair), it smells amazing. This sounds super nerdy but since I only wash my hair twice or so per week, I literally get excited about opening the bottle and the sweet, refreshing scent that’s like a vacation in a bottle.
Beaches, Gray Malin coffee table book: I’m addicted to coffee table books and I’ve also loved, loved, love Gray Malin photography but haven’t had a space for one of the cool beachy prints. At $25, this gorgeous, oversized book satisfied my craving at a budget price to have his art in my home, and as a perk: my son loves looking at the images, too. The cover brings an instant smile to my face.
Me Before You: Confession…. I’ve had this book in my house since I shared my office/guest room with you, but haven’t had a chance to open it. Since the movie just came out, I finally opened the book a week or so ago and blasted through it in just two days. People are right: grab the tissues. I personally liked the book way better than the movie though the movie is definitely the perfect excuse for a girls night out (which is what I did with my favorite… movie theatre popcorn… YUM!). I just ordered (and yes, I’m a sucker for the real deal instead of reading on a kindle/pad), After You.
Dr. Dennis Gross Triple Correction Serum: I have been looking for an eye cream for YEARS. Seriously, there are so many good ones out there but due to some insane eye sensitivity, most have caused me problems. At the same time, I’m noticing an increasing number of fine lines and major dryness under and around my eyes as well as on my lids. After using this just one week — not only have I not had irritation or itchiness, which is a major victory — I’m noticing reduction in fine lines, and a smoother texture around my eyes. I ordered via Nordstrom due to their awesome return policy, though it’s also available at Sephora.
Native kids’ shoes: Summer time means pool, beach, fun in the sun… and hot cement. Ugh. My son easily rips off Crocs so last year we fell in love with Natives. I love the stylish sneaker vibe, reasonable price point and that — they stay on! My 6-year old girl wears them as does my 2-year old son, some days to camp, or just the playground, beach, splash ground or pool. I purchase them via Nordstrom online (more styles here) and they’re also on Amazon. I find they run TTS.
Oversized ice cubes: I’m in love with oversized ice cubes as much as I love a summer cocktail! Have you tried using these? Not only do they look super chic in your cocktail (or water!), they also keep your beverage cool for hours longer than smaller traditional ones that quickly melt away. Plus, you can infuse these with slivers of limes, strawberries, lemons for an added (easy!) designer touch.
