Seriously… are shorts looking more and more like super-high waisted underwear these days or is it just me? For a while it was the teenagers — which gives me enough anxiety while raising a little girl — but now, it’s just plain impossible to find shorts that don’t ride up your booty and have an inseam that doesn’t make me feel like I’m wearing my underwear in public.
I’ve been talking to friends constantly about this. It’s so frustrating.
How to combat? The key is to check the inseam AND to somewhat ignore the photo. Photos of the models can be so misleading. I’m 5’3 and the models are 5’10 so it’s impossible to tell how shorts or long anything will look on my petite frame. Go straight to the inseam, and I suggest 3-4 inches, and 5 inches for more coverage. This super comfy, distressed pair from LOFT is three inches and I’m linking below to a handful of other appropriate length shorts… because, why? Why do brands think we want to wear our underwear in public?!
PS: the shoreline style sneakers by Converse are the best! A ton of you purchased them last year — you can’t beat the price point, the classic, goes-with-everything style, and how they’re pull-ons (the laces come like this). Definitely a summer staple.

I never thought I’d get shorts from there in my 40s but I love them – and the customer reviews were really helpful. AND – I went to purchase the Target men’s pineapple hat for my won giant noggin today! Unfortunately they were sold out, BUT I got a coral one with a frog and it was on sale for only $9! SCORE!
