Alyson’s Obsessions // May 2017

Happy May! Welcome back to Alyson’s Obsessions with, per usual, an utterly random mix of things I’m in totally loving lately. While I’m having a minor panic attack that another school year is nearly complete, that it’s nearly summer and that half of 2017 is practically behind us, I’m also ready to embrace a slower season and hopefully lots of sunshine. Check out my favorites, and please feel free to spill in the comments section anything you’re loving, too.

PS: the photo above are the Sam Edelman Henna slides, which come in four cute colors and prints. Best of all, Target now has an amazing dupe in the cutest stripe pair and a versatile black option. Target does it again!

Tan Towels // the best way to get a quick tan!

Tan Towels: I’ve used a few self-tan products over the years but it’s a consensus: my girls and I are all obsessed with Tan Towels! I’m currently super duper pale — especially for living in Florida #embarrassing #mustgetoutside — and I’ve had a few recent events and even blog shoots where let’s be honest, ladies… tan legs just look way better. I tried these Tan Towels and I SO wish I had a before and after photo to give that wow factor. They deliver a great natural color boost (no orange, and no streaking!) that for sure lasts a few days (i.e. a girls or wedding weekend!). For best results, do some light exfoliating first (particularly on your heels or any dry spots). I use one per leg, and simply rub on your legs or body in a circular motion. Wash your hands afterward, and voila… tan will start to appear in a few minutes and build over a few years. GAME CHANGER. I promise. (heads up: they’re also at some Bed Bath & Beyond, and you can use the 20% off coupon!).

Loopy Case: Have I mentioned I’m insanely clumsy? I have dropped my phone countless times so when I saw a blogger share her Loopy case in an Instagram selfie I might have gotten a little crazy giddy because the company so kindly offered to send me one. It makes it so much easier for me to carry because your phone can literally hang from your finger in the loop, but it also gives me a little less anxiety when my little ones carry my phone because they love holding putting their fingers in the loop. It also works to prop my phone up to watch a video or if I’m pulling

Quay “It’s My Way” sunglasses: I tried these on in Charleston during my girls trip and it was a unanimous YES. They’re oversized and fun without being too over-the-top, plus Quay has become quickly popular for delivering super cool shades, at a mostly under $60 price. Between my clumsy life & mom life, I can’t justify designer shades. These are a new favorite! Find them here, or shop more Quay here.

Read this: Stop the momshaming. A friend of mine recently shared this article and it’s so good, and on point. While it might be directed toward parents with special needs children, it has a strong universal message worthy whether or not you’re a mama. Compassion and kindness can go a long way, and let’s all remember, we never know what’s going on behind-the-scenes.

First Aid Beauty Face Cleanser: holy cow, this face wash is my new everything! I had been using Kate Somerville for years and more recently felt like I wasn’t getting a deep clean. A super knowledgable gal at Sephora recommended this, mentioning it both removes makeup + deep cleans, something not all cleansers do well (many are focused on one or the other). This fragrance-free cleanser with its light-weight yet creamy consistency thoroughly removes all my makeup, and gives my skin that deep clean feeling, while still feeling hydrated… and it doesn’t irritate my sensitive skin. I loved it so much I picked up a travel size version at Sephora for all our trips this spring. Find it at Amazon or Sephora.

Longer cords for your phone: OK, super not glamarous… though I suppose the pink is a little more glam. Sometimes practical wins and I realized that I’m constantly frustrated I have the wrong length phone cords, and the one in my car is hanging on by a thread so it barely even charges. #firstworldproblems.  I finally purchased this pretty pack of four cords, and it’s pretty much solved all the problems. Love a good Amazon Prime find!

Yasso Mint Chocolate Chip Sandwiches. You guys, as if I couldn’t love Yasso anymore, I finally found these insanely yummy sandwiches at Target thanks to my girl, Heather. We both have a major affinity for all things Yasso and I’m so grateful she was looking out for me because these are soooo delicious, and at 120 calories, a super satisfying dessert without feeling guilty. If you see any Yasso flavor ever, please treat yo’ self. I can only wish this was sponsored in some way (seriously, I’d be its brand ambassador in a heartbeat!) but nope; I’m just a crazy fan. 😉

That article about special needs shaming is really, really poignant for many reasons! Of course I am always interested in articles that get out awareness of special needs so I am slightly biased. Thanks for sharing!

Absolutely… it’s important that all moments/women/people show a bit more compassion. It goes so far for love and compassion and everything else. <3
