Outfit: Date Night Style

Get the cold shoulder look with these dark neutrals

Summer is all about the brights, and fall is all about the neutrals. Whether that’s a beautiful camel/tan and cream palette, or a black and gray palette seen here, it’s a chic, classic and effortless way to put an outfit together… for day or night.

I don’t have a lot of “going out tops” as I used to call them (anyone else?!) so this Express blouse, with its subtly sexy cold shoulder and ruffle detail in a silky fabric, instantly had me swoon. It drapes beautifully, drawing attention up to my collar bone. Pretty obsessed. Can’t say enough good things about the clothes from Express. Yup, there’s a few cheesy (or at least, non age appropriate) pieces but man, there are so many gems. This “going out” tank, this sweater, cozy cardigan, and these fun muscle workout tees, are just a few examples.

And, these Banana Republic jeans — on the September “Alyson’s Obsessions” — are cozy beyond words. Seriously feels like I’m wearing pajamas. You’ll know what I mean as soon as you try them. Grey denim is also an instant wardrobe refresher, giving you a new, neutral way to mix up your blouses and tunics.

While I styled these photos for sharing on the blog I’m not only now craving a date night… holler if you’re overdue for a GNO! Nothing better than a few of your best girlfriends, good food, better cocktails & some great jams.

PS: the straps are adjustable, which is awesome, except I think in my haste to capture this outfit amidst the 98 degree weather I didn’t realize I needed to adjust.

I am long overdue for a girls night, and have at least three going out tops in my closet which have yet to make it out. so sad. I love the grey jeans, and now that a snap of cold weather has hit (and probably isn’t going away) I guess it’s time I get mine out too!

How cute are you?! Love this top, and even though this outfit is all “neutrals,” it totally pops!

Wow, I loveeee that top. I have ZERO “going out tops” because I’m so picky with clothing that isn’t my usual level of casualness. Express usually has really good stuff, I need to check them out more often!
