Outfit: Plaid Attack

What to Wear in the Fall When It's Hot Out

What to Wear in the Fall When It's Hot Out

If you’re on Pinterest or read style blogs, I’m sure you’re feeling like the world is being attacked by a plaid blanket scarf. Alas, here in Florida: we are still sweating it out. The humidity is gone and I’m eager for Fall style however so far, it’s only in ways that don’t cause to me to feel like I’m in early menopause (which by the way, happens every afternoon when the sun goes outside my office window!).

This bold plaid skirt was sale find under $30 at Nordstrom that was too good to pass up. It’s equally cute in cooler climates with opaque tights added to the mix, however plaids and warmer fall colors in fabrics and styles that aren’t too heavy, are ideal ways to inject a little fall style. Skirts like this also work dressed up for work — this was my outfit on Monday — and also dressed down like they show on the web site with sneakers, a grey tee and even a denim or cargo jacket.

By the way, I get asked about these booties all the time. They’re from Ann Taylor from a few seasons ago and, while they were gifted to me by the brand, they are one of my favorite shoes every winter. I’ve since purchased AT heels on my own because I’ve been so impressed by the comfort, style and quality. I candidly never thought of going there for footwear but have to say it’s a hidden gem (especially with the 40% off sales!).

    Those booties are the cutest!
I’m grasping to any lingering warmth I can get these days. If it’s above 60, bare legs all the way, but you’ll probably find me wrapped up in a blanket scarf too.

Right? So it’s not just me? Well, I do think scarves in general look super cozy but Florida girl here doesn’t get to approach it as much. People LOVE their plaid scarves.

I love this skirt on you! And thank you for reminding me that even if you have a little red in your hair, you can still wear pink:)
