What to do with Old Sorority & Other T-shirts

Fun, Cute Ways to Reuse Old Tees! // the average girl's guide

Fun, Cute Ways to Reuse Old Tees! // the average girl's guideIf you’re anything like me, you have more than a few old t-shirts stashed away in the back of your closet. Over the years, I’ve donated some of them to Goodwill, gradually narrowing my collection, but still have a few keepsakes I can’t part with, including sorority t-shirts I never know what to do with. I won’t give them away (sororities prefer only members don their letters), and it seems like such a waste to toss them. After a recent text chat with a few close friends/sorority sisters on the same topic — where we all agreed we only hear of people making quilts or blankets — I did some research and absolutely love some of these creative ways to repurpose and DIY old t-shirts.

1. T-Shirt Tote Bag

This is a great way to keep the t-shirt’s design on display! Use it to house a few other memorabilia you can’t part with, for any errands, or even as a re-usable & sentimental grocery bag.

2. Chew Toy for Your Pup

You can’t be too attached to your t-shirt for this DIY as it will get ruined. But, if you’re looking for an alternative to throwing a t-shirt away— and if you want to save a few bucks — this dog toy is a great option.

3. T-Shirt Apron

This idea requires a bit of sewing, but the extra effort is worth it for this adorable apron. How cute is this?! What a fun gift, too. Practical and stylish — a win in my book!

4. T-Shirt Pillow

Keep your letters intact with these adorable throw pillows that would be fun to pass down to a younger sorority sister (or keep for a family member!), or even donate them to your sorority house. You can even keep it in your little girl’s room — I know I have enough shirts to color coordinate with any look.

5. Braided Jewelry

Although the sorority letters (or whatever design is on your t-shirt) won’t be showcased in this DIY, it’s still a fun way to repurpose, knowing that the original has special meaning. I especially love the idea of using two colors, like this one.

I was literally just talking about what to do with my old sorority gear with a sister last week.
